MBA in Information Management has been designed to cater to the growing and unique need for information professionals who understand the conflux of multiple organizational issues across several disciplines. This MBA is a dual certification program comprising of Level 7 Diploma in Business Management awarded by NCC, UK and an MBA (top-up) awarded by Plymouth University, the UK which is recognised worldwide as the premier postgraduate qualification in the field of business management.

Part 1 – Level 7 Diploma in Business Management (L7DBM)

  • The Level 7 Diploma in Business Management (RQF) (L7DBM) qualification is designed for students who are a graduate or experienced manager and wishes to further develop a career in management.
  • Students will be exposed to a wide range of contemporary issues which will enable them to develop critical, analytical and technical skills needed for senior management positions. The qualification will also develop academic skills, which are required for further study at postgraduate level.
  • NCC Education is accredited to award the Level 7 Diploma in Business Management (RQF) by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) in England. Ofqual qualification reference number is 600/0365/0


Students must study the following eight core units:

  1. Information and Knowledge Management– consider the effective use of information and knowledge by managers in organisations and the technology used to manage, capture and derive this.
  2. International Marketing Strategy– coverage of a wide range of contemporary issues in strategic marketing with a primary focus on the international cultural dimension.
  3. Management, Control and Accountability for Financial Resources– considers the responsibility of managers for financial resources under their control and introduces control and management techniques.
  4. Managing People in Organisations– examines some of the contemporary themes associated with managing people. A thematic approach to the subject develops an awareness of the concepts and theory that underpin organisational behaviour and human resource management.
  5. Research Methods– develops the knowledge and skills needed by senior management and for further academic research including critical and creative thinking, complex problem solving, decision-making and research skills.
  6. Study Skills for Postgraduate Learning– provides the essential skills and knowledge required for studying at postgraduate level. The module is designed to support study in the qualification’s other units and to develop transferable skills useful at managerial level.
  7. Strategic Management– focuses on strategic analysis by utilising a set of analytical techniques for further/better understanding, hence influencing a company’s position in its actual and potential marketplace.
  8. Strategic Operations Management– develops an understanding and an ability to critically appraise decision-making, relating to operations management in both the manufacturing and services sector.

Students who have completed their NCC Education Level 7 Diploma in Business Management (L7DBM) can progress to the MBA (top-up) awarded by Plymouth University. NCC Education has secured an agreement with Plymouth University which enables NCC Edu L7DBM holders onto the final dissertation stage enabling a fast-track option to complete an MBA. The broad aim of the programme is to build learning to develop in managers and potential managers an ability to apply their knowledge and understanding of business and management in a complex and changing environment to develop a research-based study to investigate a live, complex business or management issue or conduct a critical theoretical study on a current business or management problem.

Part 2 –MBA (Top-up)

Master of Business Administration (Information Management)

  • This MBA is a ‘top-up’ programme designed specifically for holders of Postgraduate Diplomas in business or management, allowing you to ‘fast-track’ your studies to gain a full MBA award. The programme assessment is project-based and supported through expert supervision and online learning – it can be studied from any location worldwide.MBA Project (STO712) 60 credits

On successful completion, graduates should have developed the ability to:

  • Conduct research in accordance with the ethical requirements of best practice
  • communicate complex information clearly and develop coherent conclusions and recommendations

4.Employment-related skills

On successful completion graduates should have developed:

  • An ability to evaluate alternative solutions to problems and develop persuasive arguments, recommendations and solutions
  • An ability to reflect on business and management practice

5.Practical skills

On successful completion graduates should have developed:

  • An ability to work independently to design and manage a project and meet objectives in the given timeframes;
  • An ability to apply research processes and findings in a practical context and develop original problem-solving skills

The programme has no classroom teaching which is why there is no need for students to visit Plymouth. However, the supervisor and student may wish to arrange face-to-face supervision meetings in Plymouth if appropriate. Students may also access University facilities/resources during visits to support their studies. Any visits to Plymouth, however, would be subject to immigration/ visa status. A log-book system is employed to monitor student progress and ensure that appropriate levels of contact between student and supervisor are maintained.
