George Fox is known nationally as a standout Christian university, ranking among the top 10 in Forbes Media’s ranking of “The Best Religiously Affiliated Colleges.” We are classified by U.S. News & World Report as a first-tier regional university, and Forbes consistently ranks us among the top Christian colleges in the nation.

Academically Rigorous

Students at George Fox enjoy a challenging curriculum that encourages significant scholarship and application. Undergraduate and graduate students in the Richter Scholars Program, for example, conduct original research with faculty mentors – researching issues such as cures for breast cancer, investigating diabetes on the cellular level, or studying trauma and cognitive development. We are one of only 11 colleges, including Yale, Dartmouth, Cal Tech and University of Chicago, to participate in this prestigious program.

Faculty and administrators design programs that put students first, recognizing that each student has different goals and needs. From personalized academic guidance to the ongoing spiritual formation, faculty mentoring and career advising, the entire educational process at George Fox is organized around our students’ growth and success.

As a Christ-centered university rooted in the Friends tradition, George Fox is uniquely designed to encourage meaningful relationships. Students know their professors by their first names, and in turn, professors are intentional about knowing their students on a first-name basis. At George Fox, we believe transformational learning begins with holistic, authentic relationships – and making these types of connections a priority is what sets us apart.

Opportunity Rich

George Fox provides the resources of a national university and the accessibility to opportunities that only a smaller university can provide. Undergraduate and graduate students participate in life-changing experiences such as faculty-mentored research projects, internships, and study abroad programs. The options are diverse. Here, a student can perform in a play, compete in NCAA Division III team sports, sing in a choir, and even lead a student club. Our smaller size means big opportunities.

Faith Infused

Faith permeates every facet of the educational experience at George Fox. Faculty and administrators, who are all professing Christians, are dedicated to integrating faith and learning and are passionate about helping students fulfill their vocational callings. Students gain deeper understandings of God in the context of a Christ-centered community focused on loving God and people and by learning how faith can develop whole persons who become outstanding professionals.

Service Minded

George Fox takes seriously the challenge of Jesus Christ to be agents of love and reconciliation in the world. Students take school-sponsored service trips to diverse cross-cultural settings such as the Dream Center in Los Angeles, the Makah Nation in Washington, or Swaziland to assist AIDS victims. Some programs, such as engineering, integrate service into the curriculum. Every fall, the university closes campus for our annual Serve Day and sends more than 2,000 students, professors and employees to volunteer in the community.

Globally Engaged

Since its founding, George Fox has encouraged its students to seek ways to make their faith relevant in the world. Our commitment to outreach, study abroad and addressing the social justice issues of our day has helped to create a learning environment that emphasizes global awareness and engagement. George Fox is ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the top 60 out of approximately 1,800 accredited colleges and universities in the nation for the percentage of students studying abroad. Graduate and undergraduate service trips continue to address complex social justice concerns in Africa, India, Brazil, Ukraine, and Romania.
